Mrs. DeCou; “Woman with baguette and wine”, Paris 1945. This photo has a very interesting history of creation. American photographer Branson DeCou’s wife Elsie DeCou, who was also a photographer bet on a bottle of Madeira with her French colleague Levon Senay who would photograph the bread more “appetisingly”.

Senay was an expert in macro photography. He spent several hours cutting the freshest baguettes, searching for the right texture of bread, setting the light for a long time, selecting lenses. Elsie DeCou simply went out into the street, and, tearing a fake baguette from the bakery sign, armed it with a wine vendor passing by.

Here is one more “Big Loaf of Bread” for you.
